Dr. Gregory Smith – Cosmetic & General Dentist
Dr. Gregory Smith graduated with a Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 2008 from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. He completed Lutheran Medical Center’s Advanced Education in General Dentistry program in 2009 while working as a resident in Tucson, Arizona. In 2010 he moved to Colorado Springs where he helped start and grow Colorado Dental Group into a successful practice. In 2013, he helped open Woodmen Dental Group. He began working full time at Woodmen Dental Group in late 2016. He has participated in Colorado’s Mission of Mercy, offering free dental care to those in need, and participated in the Big Brother Big Sister program. He is a member of the Colorado Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry and the American Dental Association. He likes to work with all kinds of patients, from children to the elderly, and is particularly adept at helping patients with high dental anxiety.
Dr. Smith is originally from Pleasant Grove, Utah. He has a bachelor’s degree in English literature, speaks decent Bulgarian and Spanish, and in his free time enjoys outdoor activities like back country skiing, mountaineering, hiking and traveling.
Dr. Jennifer L. Murphy – Cosmetic & General Dentist
Dr. Jennifer Murphy graduated with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2006 from The Ohio State University. Prior to dental school she attended The College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and also started four years on the volleyball team.
She is a member in good standing of the American Dental Association, Colorado Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Murphy enjoys working with patients to improve their oral health and subsequently their overall health.
Dr. Murphy moved to the Colorado Springs area in 2017 from Avon, OH. She and her husband were married in 2015 at the Garden of the Gods. She enjoys traveling, running, and yoga, and is a registered yoga teacher. Dr. Murphy likes to take advantage of all that the area has to offer with her husband Mark and rescue dog Madison.
Dr. Lou Taloumis – Orthodontist
Dr. Lou Taloumis has been practicing orthodontics for over 25 years. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Syracuse University before receiving his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Tufts University.
Dr. Taloumis completed his general practice residency at Fort Bragg and an orthodontic residency at Fort Meade before coming to Colorado to practice orthodontics. Dr. Taloumis is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Board of Orthodontics, the Colorado Springs Orthodontic Study Club, and a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry.
When he’s not busy helping patients achieve the smile of their dreams, Dr. Taloumis is publishing articles or showing off his toothbrush collection from around the world, which was featured on Ripley’s Believe it or Not!
Dr. Ramie K. Barfuss, Endodontist
Ramie K. Barfuss graduated from the University of Utah with a B.S. in Medical Biology in June 2001. He then attended the University of Louisville, where he graduated dental school with a D.M.D. After dental school, Dr. Barfuss entered activity duty for the United States Army where he completed a one year Advanced Education in General Dentistry at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina. After practicing general dentistry for five years, he then completed a two year Endodontic Residency at the University of Iowa in June 2011. Since June 2011, Dr. Barfuss has been a practicing endodontist in the United States Army and in private practice. He currently serves at Fort Carson, Colorado and with Colorado Endodontic Group. He is married with four children.
Dr. Daniel Chatterley – Oral Surgeon
Dr. Dan Chatterley was born in Cedar City, Utah and grew up in Littleton, Colorado. He attended the University of Utah where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and earned a Bachelors of Arts in Biology. He received his dental degree from Virginia Commonwealth University with honors in Maxillofacial Surgery and Prosthodontics.
Following dental school, Dr. Chatterley worked as a general dentist for the U.S. Army at Fort Wainwright, Alaska for 3 years prior to starting his residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Chatterley completed his residency with the Army at the San Antonio Military Medical Center where is he was trained in full scope dentoalveolar surgery, dental implantology, orthognathics, plastics, facial reconstruction, anesthesia, trauma, surgical ICU care, burn care, and temperomandibular joint disorders.
Dr. Chatterley did his research at the US Army’s Institute of Surgical Research where he helped gather and interpret facial injury patterns in Wounded Warriors. He also developed critical size defects for future mandibular grafting materials research and established the standard surgical model for iliac crest bone harvesting in white New Zealand Rabbits. He graduated from residency with distinction.
Since residency, Dr. Chatterley has served as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in the U.S. Army at Grafenwoehr, Germany and is currently the Chief of Oral Surgery at Evan’s Community Hospital, Fort Carson, Colorado.
Dr. Chatterley has been married to Rebekah for 19 years and they have two daughters and two sons. He enjoys hiking, camping, mountain biking, rock climbing, skiing, and traveling the world.
Dr. Mary Stuart – Periodontist
Dr. Stuart was a dental hygienist for 10 years prior to continuing her education as a dentist and subsequently becoming a Periodontist. She graduated from dental hygiene school in 1993 from Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, Florida. After getting married to her husband Roy in 2001, she attended the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio and graduated as a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2008. She then entered active duty in the United States Army as a general dentist and attended a one year advanced general dentistry residency at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. After two more years of general dentistry practice, she attended her 3 year Periodontal Residency at Fort Gordon in Augusta, Georgia and simultaneously attended Georgia Regents University also located in Augusta, Georgia. She graduated from both schools in 2014 with her certificate in Periodontics and a masters in Oral Biology. In 2015 she challenged and passed the American Board of Periodontology and became a diplomate. She is currently a member of the American Academy of Periodontology. In 2017, Dr. Stuart was assigned to serve at Fort Carson as the Chief of Periodontics and is the periodontal mentor at the One Year Advanced Educational General Dentistry Residency. Dr. Stuart enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking in the beautiful Colorado Mountains, and attending church at First United Methodist Church in downtown Colorado Springs.
Ashley – Office Manager
Ashley is originally from California, but has lived most of her life in Colorado. She has been with our practice since February 2016. She has a 3 year old son and she enjoys taking tap dance classes in her space time.
Dana – Dental Hygienist
Dana grew up in Fallon, Montana. She has been with Woodmen Dental Group since October 2016. She is married with 3 children and 1 grandchild. She enjoys gardening, spending time with her family, and brewing beer.
Emi – Dental Hygienist
Emi graduated from Pueblo Community College in 2014 with a degree in dental hygiene. Emi enjoys spending her free time doing outdoor activities.
